PIERCE’S SAD PAST
Brosnan spent 17 years with his first wife, Australian actress Cassandra Harris, before she sadly passed away from ovarian cancer in 1991 at the age of 43.
“When your partner gets cancer, then life changes. Your timetable and reference for your normal routines and the way you view life, all this changes,” Brosnan told Cigar Aficionado magazine. “It was and is a terrible loss, and I see it reflected, from time to time, in my children.”
Sadly, the actor would go on to watch Harris’ daughter Charlotte, whom he adopted in 1986, battle the same disease. Tragically, she was the third generation of females in her family to succumb to ovarian cancer after she lost her mum and grandmother. “Charlotte fought her cancer with grace and humility, courage and dignity,” Brosnan said when he announced her death.
