Prince Harry, 37, and Meghan Markle, 40, were the most coveted interviewees in the world when they sat down for their bombshell tell-all with Oprah Winfrey, 67, in March. But when Couric had the opportunity to sit down with the British royal in 2012, she wasn’t so impressed.

Single at the time, Couric describes the Duke of Sussex as being in his “wild-oats-sowing phase”. “The smell of cigarettes and alcohol seemed to ooze from every pore in his body,” she wrote of the encounter.
