Pregnancy journey
IVF and pregnancy success
Because Sharp (above right and far right) still has her ovaries, doctors were able to do an egg retrieval. She produced three viable embryos with her husband, one of which was transferred into Stoner in December. Friends threw a joint shower in June “to celebrate both of us – and John Ryder,” Sharp says.
Shocking diagnosis
In July 2018 Sharp (right, with daughter Charlotte) learned she had choriocarcinoma, a rare and fast-spreading cancer in the uterus. During chemotherapy, “Cathey was by my side as I did infusions.” After the cancer returned in 2019, she underwent a partial hysterectomy.
A warm welcome
“He’s perfect,” says Sharp (above left, with Stoner after John Ryder’s birth). “To be on the other side of grief and loss is so joyful. We’ve come full circle as a family.”
