THE TAP PACK

They are one of Australia’s hottest bands and with a new single out, their fth studio album on the way and a long list of tour dates that will take them around the country, The Jungle Giants are set for a monster of a year.

The Brisbane four-piece have been criss-crossing the globe, standing out at the local Laneway Festival line-up earlier this year, bringing their free-spirited antics to the stages at Florida’s Okeechobee Festival and M3F in Arizona, and kicking o a run of headline shows in Mexico this month.

Lead singer Sam Hales said in a press release they were “pumped” about their buoyant new single ‘Trippin Up’, described as a playful earworm that will give fans a taste of what’s to come when they release their next body of work.

“It all began with a dive into some aspects of electronic drum production that were so fun to experiment with,” he said.

The 12-date (so far) tour kicks o on May 19, with back-to-back shows in Hobart and Adelaide, before heading to Fremantle. On June 1 they’ll play Wollongong, then head to Canberra and Sydney before arriving in their home state of Queensland. After a couple of shows across the ditch in New Zealand, they return to Melbourne to wrap things up.

The Jungle Giants – comprised of singersongwriter and guitarist Hales, lead guitarist Cesira Aitken, bassist Andrew Dooris, and drummer Keelan Bijker – formed when they were in high school and share a bond that sees them work together like a family.

“The dynamic is really nice,” Aitken said last year. “We’re a cute little gang, like a little family. I think we probably have a rotating roster with who’s the liability – it depends!” (‘Trippin Up’ is out now. For tour details and tickets, head to thejunglegiants.com)
