Re­store files in File His­tory

1 Find data to re­store

Nav­i­gate to the folder con­tain­ing the data that you want to re­store in File Ex­plorer. From the Home tab on the Rib­bon, click His­tory to open File His­tory to that folder’s lo­ca­tion. A win­dow dis­play­ing all the backed-up files from that folder will be shown.

2 Choose file ver­sion

Dou­ble-click the file you wish to re­store – a pre­view of the file’s con­tents will ap­pear. If you’re look­ing for an ear­lier ver­sion of that file, us­ing the back and for­ward but­tons at the bot­tom to nav­i­gate be­tween the dif­fer­ent re­vi­sions un­til you find the one you want.

3 Re­store file

Click the Set­tings but­ton in the top-right cor­ner and choose Re­store to save it to its orig­i­nal lo­ca­tion, over­writ­ing the cur­rent ver­sion if it’s present (which will be backed up as the file’s pre­vi­ous ver­sion), or ‘Re­store to’ to save it to a dif­fer­ent folder com­pletely. n
