Mary and Fred under fire

Mary’s marriage under siege Mary is left heartbroken as extraordinary cheating accusations reach the palace

‘I spoke to three other women… they also told of an unnamed royal’

He was once nicknamed “the playboy prince” – renowned for his love of beautiful women and his relaxed approach to civic duties.

But ever since he married Tasmanian-born Princess Mary in 2004, Denmark’s Crown Prince Frederik has presented himself as a new man. The family-oriented future king, 47, has seemingly dedicated his life to his country, his beautiful wife and his four children – Christian, 10, Isabella, nine, and five-year-old twins Josephine and Vincent.

Now, in news that will shock the nation and Aussie royal fans alike, a controversial author claims Fred is proof that old habits die hard.

Moth to the flame

In breaking news from Denmark, Fred has been named by Danish television sex expert Jakob Olrik, as the royal accused of paying a prostitute to sleep with him.

Jakob’s recently released book Moth is the catalyst behind the allegations being made known to the press. In the book, Jakob’s ex-girlfriend – a prostitute named Lunar – tells how she was paid to service several well-known Danish men. According to Lunar, one of those men was a member of the Danish royal family.

Although the name of the royal was initially kept under wraps, after weeks of speculation, Jakob, 43, has claimed it is none other than Fred, who Lunar says once paid $10,000 to spend a night with her in the very expensive five-star Hotel d’angleterre in Copenhagen.

According to Lunar, whose real identity remained questionable at the time Woman’s Day went to print, officers belonging to the Danish Security and Intelligence Service guarded the room in which she and Fred spent the night together.

Speaking to Her and Nu magazine in Copenhagen last week, Jakob revealed, “Lunar told me that the Crown Prince was a very shy and considerate guy who treated her well.”

He also made unsubstantiated claims that Fred paid for Lunar’s

sexual services on more than one occasion in the past few years.

For Fred’s dutiful wife Mary, 44, it’s believed the shock allegations have come as a complete surprise. The princess is thought to be heartbroken that such accusations have been directed towards her loving husband.

Mary has dedicated herself to the Danish people, doing all she can to earn the respect of the royal family, especially Fred’s mum Queen Margrethe, 76.

Any scandal surrounding Mary and her husband, whether it be true or false, is thought to be the cause of great distress to her.

While Jakob insists he hasn’t fabricated any of Lunar’s story, the palace passed off his book – publication of which coincided with the allegations – as fiction. When Danish journalists at Her and Nu requested a statement they were told: “We will not comment on rumours.”

Jakob, who dated Lunar for a year and a half, claims they discussed her work as a prostitute like any other couple would talk about their jobs. “We were a couple and she needed to get things off her chest,” he says.

“I spoke to three other beautiful women who got paid for having sex with exclusive customers at the hotel,” he adds. “Independent of each other, they told me in detail how a meeting with a nonnamed royal person took place and in which suite it happened.” Jakob says he came to his own conclusions about who that was.

Future unclear

No woman ever wants to hear such claims about her husband, but for Mary, the accusations against Fred couldn’t have come at a worse time. Just last week, Woman’s Day revealed the regal pair had been planning to have a secret second wedding ceremony in the upcoming months, in which they were to renew their vows.
