Tensions run high on James’s yacht
It’s been exactly a year since Mariah Carey and James Packer made their debut as a couple, photographed on James’s superyacht the Arctic P off the coast of Capri.
Now they’ve taken to the decks once more, returning to the celeb hotspot. But 12 months on they paint a very different picture, with tense snaps suggesting the pair have hit a rough patch.
The 46-year-old singer looked uncharacteristically glum when she was spotted seeking some alone time on deck. James, 48, rushed to her side to comfort her, but the singer wanted nothing to do with her fiance.
Speculation has been rife that their wedding may be on hold. Last week, Woman’s Day revealed friends are worried there could be tension between party-loving Mariah and James’s mum Ros Packer. As a family friend put it, “They’re very different women.”
Breaking point
The couple also have their own differences to deal with. Mariah has been partying hard, and fans speculate her penchant for boozing and skimpy outfits may be upsetting James.
The Aussie billionaire also maintains close friendships with his two ex-wives, Jodhi Meares and Erica Packer. Last week Jodhi shared a pic of Mariah and James, with James sporting a top by her label The Upside.
Meanwhile, Mariah’s ex Nick Cannon, who she split from in 2014, is reportedly refusing to sign the divorce papers. Insiders claim he “still loves her and doesn’t want to officially let her go”.
The tense getaway comes just weeks after Mariah told Sharon Osbourne that getting married in 2016 was “the goal”, but that she has “a lot on my plate”. Mariah, who’s mum to five-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan, has had a busy schedule since she began dating James. She has a residency show in Las Vegas and is also filming her reality show Mariah’s World, set to hit our screens later this year.
