Do you know how to spell floccinauc­inihilipil­ification?

Zachary certainly can, and if that’s not impressive enough, he can do it in just under three seconds.

“My trick for spelling is to picture the word in my head and then I read out the letters one by one when I’m asked to spell,” explains the eightyear-old, who will put his speedy spelling skills to the test when he competes on Ten’s The Great Australian Spelling Bee.

But spelling at lightning speed isn’t Zach’s only talent. He can read quickly, too. “When I’m reading with my parents and when I’m ready to flip the page, they’re usually not even done reading half of the page,” he explains.

“I’m also good at maths and science, and also playing Minecraft.”

Zach’s parents first realised their son was a gifted speller when he was about four-and-a-half.

“His teachers told us that he was a natural speller,” recalls his mum, Mabel, adding she couldn’t be prouder of her little boy.

“When people hear him spell, the reaction is one off surprise, especially when he spells longong difficult words in lightning speed and with accuracy. We’re really proudud of him.”

When he’s not busy learning new words to spell,ell, Sydney local Zach loves to playy tennis and build Lego. “Whenen I grow up, I want to be a Lego go master builder,” he says. “It’s cool – you get paid to play with Lego! But it’s really lly hard to be a Lego master builder,uild der, I think there’s only six inn th thehe world.”

Luckily, brainy ZachZa ach has lots of career options!ion ns!

“I would also like ike e to be a scientist to o do cool science experiment­s,” he says. “And possibly also a toy oy reviewer, because e if you are good att reviewing them, people will give you free toys!”
