Grant & Fifi take time out with their girl in Fiji

RadioR star and mum Fifi Box can barely containc her joy after reuniting with former Ironman Grant Kenny

Glowing with more than just a golden tan after a two-week holiday in Fiji, radio star Fifi Box is already making plans to give daughter Trixie a little brother or sister, after rekindling her love affair with Trixie’s famous dad, Grant Kenny.

Grant, 53, secretly flew to Fiji to spend five blissful days with Fifi and Trixie, but the island holiday was a lot more than a chance to spend time with the daughter he has rarely seen because they live in different states.

“It was just as much about spending time with Fifi as it was about spending precious time with Trixie,” shares one family friend, who says Grant is finally ready to move forward and forge a new relationship with Fifi, 39.

“He had a great time in Fiji with the two of them, and it was very daring of him to throw caution to the wind and just do it, because Grant is just not like that. But then he finds it hard to say no to Fifi because she goes about everything so sweetly and includes him.”

Private life made public

Fifi’s love affair with Grant has never been easy. The couple decided to keep the fact he was Trixie’s father secret after keeping their relationship under wraps for months. He was revealed as her baby daddy before she was born – news that shocked his estranged wife, Lisa Curry.

Grant is almost obsessively private, and after splitting from Lisa he thought he would no longer have to share his private life with the world, only to find he

was once again in the limelight because of his connection to Fifi.

The couple promised at the outset of their relationship to never discuss it in public, and it wasn’t until April this year that Fifi finally confirmed Grant was Trixie’s dad – after he and his two adult daughters went to Trixie’s third birthday party.

“Grant had a pretty difficult year emotionally, and he hadn’t seen Trixie for six months before her birthday. It made him realise how much he’d missed out on,” says our source.

Gentle approach

“It is very important to him to be involved in Trixie’s life, because he was so busy competing and building his business when his three eldest kids were growing up; he feels he just wasn’t around enough. But he also wants to spend more time with Fifi.

“Fifi has gradually gotten under Grant’s skin with her softly, softly approach. She is very gentle and never attacks him or reproaches him. Emotionally, after all the fights in his marriage to Lisa, he couldn’t cope with anything else.

“They’ve both been hurt in relationships, and Grant loves that Fifi is happy to take a step back from the limelight. He was so grateful to her for saving his daughter Morgan’s wedding from turning into a media circus.”

Fifi decided not to attend the wedding, even though Morgan wanted Trixie in the bridal party, because she didn’t want to turn such a special day into a “sideshow”.

“Grant loved that she made that sacrifice for Morgan, and he thinks she is the kindest person in the world,” our source says. “They’ve spent a lot of time on the phone over the past year and he really relies on her advice and support.”

Friends say Fifi helps lift Grant out of his dark moods, and that the couple are now even talking about having another baby, after Grant rejected the idea of using IVF with Fifi to have a sibling for Trixie last year.

“He told the family he definitely wasn’t interested in doing that, but he has always been OK about having another baby, provided the timing was right,” reveals our source.

To the future

“His three other kids would love it if he had another baby with Fifi. From their point of view it would be a shame if he didn’t.”

On top of falling in love all over again on their holiday at the Radisson Blu on Denarau Island earlier this month, the couple revelled in spending time with Trixie, who finally mastered swimming with Dad.

“He came back with a film of her diving in and loving it,” our source says. “Trixie also now calls him Daddy, rather than only doing it when prompted by Fifi, and Grant gets very emotional when he tells his mates about this.”
