Brad’s tearful reunion with his children
The Jolie-pitt clan have spent weeks without their dad
Almost one month after his marriage came to an abrupt end, Brad Pitt has been reunited with his six kids for the first time.
Insiders say the reunion was incredibly emotional for the star, whose wife Angelina Jolie filed for divorce after 12 years together.
What went down
The couple have adopted children Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, and Zahara, 11, as well as biological children Shiloh, 10, and eight-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.
“It was a very emotional visit for Brad and the kids,” an insider close to the Jolie-pitt clan tells Woman’s Day exclusively. “Brad had tears in his eyes. They were tears of joy as he’s missed them all so much.”
The news comes following allegations Brad, 52, was verbally abusive towards Maddox, and reports that a heated argument between the pair on a private jet resulted in the actor getting physical with his son.
Initially it was thought the FBI was looking into the fight, but it’s been revealed that’s not the case.
Shaky future
Insiders say Brad shared a tender moment with his teenage son when they were finally able to see each other last week.
“It was a little awkward for Maddox, as his fight with Brad was the last straw for Angelina. But Brad put his arms out and gave him a big hug. He loves his dad and was happy to finally see him. Maddox feels responsible for all that has happened, but Brad reassured him he’d done nothing wrong.”
In line with the temporary custody agreement Brad and Ange, 41, have in place, the reunion was supervised by a therapist.
“The younger kids didn’t really understand why the therapist was there. They thought it was a friend of Brad’s,” the insider says.
Although tensions between Brad and Ange, who wed in 2014, are thought to be running high, both are respecting an agreement that sees Ange granted temporary custody, while Brad is allowed supervised visitation.
Both stars have agreed to seek therapy, and Brad has also agreed to undergo voluntary drug and alcohol testing. All the children have been living with Angelina in a rented home in Malibu.
Brad has yet to appear in public since the split, but friends close to the star say he’ll do anything for more access to his children.
“Brad loves his kids more than anything in this world,” a close friend reveals. “He’ll do whatever it takes to be with them, now and always.
“Brad wants to get to a place where there can be some certainty about what’s going on. The kids are the only thing he’s hanging on to.”
It’s believed Brad and Angelina will reach a new, more permanent custody agreement by the end of this week.
