Finally, the truth about Meghan’s divorce

Her friend tells what really happened in her marriage

-

Royal watchers were shocked – and some outraged – when it was revealed Prince Harry’s new love has been married.

Meghan wed her long-term partner Trevor Engelson, 40, in 2011, but the pair parted ways just two years later.

Now a friend of the actress has revealed it was Meghan who called time on her marriage with the US film producer and talent manager.

Crumbling ties

“Meghan landed her role in Suits just a few months before they married, and despite being together for six years before getting hitched, things startedd to fall apart not long after the wedding,” the friend tells Woman’s Day exclusively.

“They really battled with long distances. Trevor was based in LA while Meghan was in Toronto, a five-hour flight away. It was a very difficult way to start married life.

“Meghan also got close to her Suits co-stars quickly, which fuelled a string of jealous rows with Trevor. As his work commitments grew, his visits became less frequent.”

The friend adds while Meghan would never dream of cheating, her close friendship with Cory Vitiello – the chef and restaurateur who later went on to become her boyfriend, after she and Trevor divorced – was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

The last straw

While Trevor understood that their marriage wasn’t working, Meghan’sMegha an’s desire to split broke his heart, as did her decision not to take him up on his offer of attending counselling.

“She’s known among friends as a ‘heartbreaker’. She isn’t the type of girl who stays on friendly terms with her exes.”

But her friends say Meghan is now certain Harry’s The One.

“She’s beautiful, beautiful successful and incredibly talented – but she’s also been scarred by her past relationships. Letting Harry in was a huge deal for her,” the source adds.

“She had to be 100 per cent sure about her feelings for him. And she’s adamant now that he’s the right guy for her.”
