Delta vs ONJ It’s on!

‘Can’t sing, can’t act!’ The Grease start is campaigning for Delta to be sacked from her biopic

Olivia Newton-john is furious, and Delta Goodrem is to blame.

Months after it was revealed Olivia was doing everything in her power to derail the unauthorised biopic of her life, Delta has been announced as the lead role in the series, and the Grease star couldn’t be angrier.

“Olivia is raging that Delta has been chosen to play her,” spills an industry insider.

“It’s supposed to be a warts-and-all biopic and she can’t believe they’ve chosen Delta, someone she thinks cannot act. She’s furious her legacy is being tampered with, and on top of that she believes Delta will use the opportunity to release a number-one album of cover songs – making a tonne of money off Olivia’s work!”

The 68-year-old has reportedly expressed her dissatisfaction to producers Fremantlemedia Australia, saying she’s mortified Delta’s been chosen.

It’s no secret the two women have quietly clashed for years.

One insider reveals Olivia rolled her eyes about Delta’s diva antics on a photo shoot nine years ago when the then Neighbours starlet kept her waiting for hours until she was satisfied with her own hair and make-up and had caught up on some personal phone calls.

“Olivia was a dream to work with, but Delta was a punish,” our insider reveals.

The two stars were sharing a hair and make-up artist on the magazine shoot in northern NSW, but Olivia had to eventually do her own hair and make-up because Delta took two-and-a-half hours to prepare.

Delta’s reps later explained she was nervous about meeting her idol, but others claimed she behaved like a “spoilt brat”. “Olivia was incredibly graceful and professional and saved the shoot.”

Despite Olivia’s resentment, Delta’s been desperately trying to keep the pair’s feud out of the spotlight, telling everyone she wouldn’t have taken the role without her “idol’s blessing”.

She’s Delta’s idol

“Olivia’s been an incredible guiding light with me,” Delta has said. “She’s always given me really great advice. She’s beautiful and we have a beautiful friendship.”

But it’s not just Olivia who is causing tension behind the scenes.

“Delta’s management and Fremantle Media got into a huge row over money last week. Things got so bad, they almost threatened to pull the plug,” tells our source, saying production of the series is due to start next week. Nine is also reportedly up in arms over Delta’s decision to work with a rival network, after they signed her up for House Husbands and The Voice.

The biopic, which is set to air on Seven in 2017, promises to tell a positive story. “Celebrating how a nice girl can finish first… in one of the world’s toughest industries,” Seven said about the miniseries.
