Prince George Off to school

The royal rascal is t thrilled to finally me meet his new little sch schoolmates…

When Prince George walks through the gates of London’s Wetherby School this yeary for the first time, he’ll be follo following in his father’s footsteps.

The posh school in London’s NottingNott Hill is the same one WilliamWill attended, ded, and photographs hs of the then four-yearold prince hand-ind-inhan hand with his mother Princess Diana on his first day are still treasured by royal watchers. When George, three, attended a Christmas service last month wearing a double-breasted overcoat, observers drew parallels with the young Prince William wearing his similar-looking school uniform back in 1987.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have all but confirmed they’ll send George to Wetherby, near Kensington Palace – royal insiders say it is the favoured option for the monarch-to-be,

‘He went off to school bravely as anything and thoroughly enjoyed it’

who currently attends Westacre Montessori preschool in Norfolk.

Ken Wharfe, Prince William’s bodyguard when he started at Wetherby, says it’s fitting that William made such a sentimental choice for his widely adored son.

“They were certainly very happy times for William and, of course, his brother,” says Ken.

As well as William and Harry, Romeo Beckham, Hugh Grant and Andrew Lloyd Webber also attended the exclusive school, where the motto is “care, share and be fair”.

Enrolling in Wetherby will be the start of a wonderful adventure for king-in-training George as he and his sister Charlotte, 20 months, leave the secluded country idyll of Anmer Hall and Mum and Dad take their rightfulg placep in the royaly ranks.

William’s contract as a pilot for or East Anglianan Air Ambulanceance will end in n March, just in time for the family amily to settle into Londondon life so George can startart schoo school l in September.

While William, 34, and Kate, 35, have loved giving their children a countryside upbringing in Norfolk, the big shift to London was alwaysways planned. Indeed, Kate undertook a $6.6 million refurbishment of Kensington Palace in 2014 to ensure it would be ready for the family’s return.

And with the Queen now 90 and struggling with poor health, the duke and duchess are steppingst up to help support the monarchm with public duties.

“They want to be in a position that when they are asked to do more, they are in a place to say yes,” said one insider.

“The Prince of Wales wants a slimmed-down monarchy, and that will also have an effect in terms of the number of duties that are carried out by each of the core members.” This move will also allow them to better prepare GeorgeG – who William says is “noisy but lovely” – for his ownow royal responsibilities. No doubt George will be as delighteddelig about starting school as he was about attending kindy.kind At a Gallipoli ceremony last year following George’s first day, Kate told war veteran Arthur Coxon about her son’s first day. “She said he went off to school bravely as anything and thoroughly enjoyed it,” recalled Arthur. Expect to see a very proud little boy modelling his brandnew uniform soon.
