Tennis’s summer of love

With his passion for fast cars and several brushes with the law, Aussie tennis champ Bernard Tomic, 24, has courted a lot of controversy. But that’s changed since he started courting beautiful Melbourne model Emma Blake-hahnel!

friends say has helped the fiery star calm down since they began dating nine months ago. “Obviously, we are just a bit crazy,” Bernard says of himself and fellow wild child Nick Kyrgios. “Sometimes we do lose it. But we have to remain mentally strong and focused on the main thing, which is playing tennis, doing well and trying to achieve our target.” Bernard’s “crazy” antics include being arrested in Miami in 2015 after a hotel noise complaint, a shirtless lap dance with a stripper on the Gold Coast in 2013 and being fined by Queensland police three times in one day the previous year for traffic offences. Bernard and Nick were left out of the nominations for the 2016 Newcombe Medal, due to a series of on- and off-court incidents, but now they’re both loved up, fans hope they’ll settle down. Emma often cheers on Bernard from the stands and spends as much time with him as she can. “My love,” the 20-year-old gushed in one of the many snaps she posted to Instagram from their recent romantic holiday to Europe. The love match has even got the Tomic family stamp of approval, with Bernard’s 18-yearold sister Sara regularly liking and commenting on Emma’s social media posts.
