ULTIMATE BEEF BURGER
MAKES 4 PREP 20 MINS + CHILLING COOK 15 MINS PER SERVE 3215kj
1 tbsp vegetable oil 4 slices cheddar cheese 4 rashers rindless bacon 4 sesame burger buns, split, toasted 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce 1 large tomato, sliced into rounds beetroot slices, fried egg, tomato sauce, onion rings (see cooking tip), to serve PATTIES 500g beef mince ½ cup fresh breadcrumbs 1 egg, lightly beaten 1 tbsp tomato relish 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce 1 Preheat oven to moderate, 180°C. Line an oven tray with baking paper. 2 PATTIES In a bowl, combine all ingredients. Season and mix well. Shape into four even, flattened patties. Cover. Chill until required. 3 In a frying pan, cook patties in oil 3-4 minutes each side, until browned. Transfer to tray. Top with cheese. Turn off oven. Place patties in oven. 4 Pan-fry bacon on high, until crisp. Keep warm. 5 Top rolls with lettuce, tomato, patty, bacon, egg and drizzle of sauce. Serve with onion rings.
F COOKING TIP To make onion rings, mix ⅔ cup each self-raising flour and soda water. Dip in 1cm slices of onion and deepfry 1-2 minutes. Drain.
