Jamie Dornan ‘I’m done with Fifty Shades of Grey!’

-

While fans get hot and bothered about the release of Fifty Shades Darker, the second movie in Hollywood’s steamiest ever trilogy, the film’s leading man Jamie Dornan, 34, is rather pleased it’s almost over. Here he tells Woman’s Day about getting his kit off again, why he’s glad to be leaving Christian Grey behind, and how being a father has become his dream role.

What can fans expect from Fifty Shades Darker?

Most people who have seen the movies have read the books, so they’ll know that big, important characters are introduced. The story moves along in quite a different tone to the first one.

How did it feel getting back into the role?

It was more fun because the pressure was off. I think with the first movie in any franchise there’s always a lot of pressure in terms of getting it right and setting the right tone.

Have fans been more accepting of you playing Christian this time around?

So many people had preconceived ideas of who he is or who he should be. Many of them were not too pleased pleasedit was me at first, but that’s fine. It goes with the territory. We’ve done two movies back-to-back now and I’m done with it. I’ve done Fifty Shades, forever.

Rumours were rife that you and Dakota Johnson [who plays Ana] feuded on set. What was it like to work with her again?

We had a lot of fun together. Dakota is funny and we’ve been through this mad journey together. I feel thankful that I’ve done it with someone who is easy to do it with, because it could have been a very different experience if we hadn’t got on.

Did you laugh a lot on set?

Yeah, you have to. From the day we met we have been trying to make each other laugh. I think that’s a really important thing. Some of the situations are pretty extreme and weird. It’s a bizarre way to spend a day and it can be quite intense at times.

You became a father just before you shot the first movie. What was that experience like?

We had the baby three days before the movie started shooting. It was totally crazy and I almost don’t believe that it happened that way. But I was able to focus on work when

I was at work and focus on my wife and baby when I was at home. It was a busy time!”

What has it been like becoming a dad for the second time?

We’ve got two little girls now and so it’s pretty insane. I think one of my best friends said, “One is a pet, two is a zoo!” I don’t buy that totally. It’s been an adjustment; it’s definitely harder and you get less time to yourself. But humans are very good at adapting. You just have to go with it and accept less sleep and accept things like having less time on your hands.

Will you try for a boy next time?

I always thought I’d want a boy because, as a guy, you just think you’ll hhave a mini version of yourself in a narcissistic way. But then, once you have girls, I can’t imagine having anything but.

Finally,F what will you miss mostm about Christian Grey?
