Ch harismatici i actress, comedian and former radio host Jane Hall has returned to the small screen in her sauciest role yet – playing a mistress.

The mum-of-one reveals to Woman’s Day why her character on ABC legal drama Newton’s Law has been such an exhilarating role to play outside of her ordinary life.

“I loved playing a mistress,” the 46-year-old says of the new series, set in fictional Knox Chambers. “We had a lot of ff fun, AndrewAd [Mcfarlane,[M F l her co-star] and I. We’ve been mates a long time and we’ve worked together over the years.

“My character, Jackie, is larger than life and is pretty much running the show at Knox Chambers, where she works as a PA to the boss,” says the actress.

“The office is her little kingdom and, coupled with the fact she’s having an affair with the boss, she makes a pretty nice life for herself.

“I constantly had to remind myself to be more uptight, because that’s how Jackie operates,” she continues.

Adding to the stellar cast of Aussie drama heavyweights is Claudia Karvan ( Love My Way), Miranda Tapsell ( Love Child) and Brett Tucker ( Mcleod’s Daughters). “The cast was amazing, and one of the things that attracted me to the series was the people who were attached to it,” says Jane, who outside of work spends her time keeping up with her daughter, Lucia, 14, tinkering in her garden and escaping to her beach house on the Bellarine Peninsula outside of Melbourne. Asked whether Lucia, whose dad is troubled actor Vince Colosimo (the couple broke up in 2007), will be tuning in for her scandalous new role, she laughs. “She shows very little interest, unfortunately. In fact, it’s probably all a bit embarrassing for her having both parents on TV!”
