Sylvia and Pete’s Big day

The Nine lovebirds say “I do” in what’s been dubbed the Wedding of the Year!

After days of rain, the sun was shining bright for TV presenters Peter Stefanovic and Sylvia Jeffreys’ magical wedding at the exclusive Ooralba Estate in Kangaroo Valley in the stunning NSW Southern Highlands. But nothing could outshine the beautiful bride, Today newsreader Sylvia, who had guests in awe as she walked down the aisle in her Rebecca Valance gown, into the arms of her perfect match, 60 Minutes correspondent Pete.

Among their star-studded 160-strong guest list were Pete’s brother and Today host Karl, co-host Lisa Wilkinson and her husband Peter Fitzsimons, entertainment editor Richard Wilkins, radio host Ben Fordham and actress Holly Valance.

Swept up in the romance of the day, Lisa, 57, wrote on Instagram, “Adore this beautiful couple. So happy. So well suited. So in love. And such a joy to be there to witness it all.”

But it wasn’t all romance – there was plenty of humour, too! The groom’s brothers Karl and Tom serenaded the couple with a reworking of the Oasis song Champagne Supernova, changing the lyrics to make a cheeky reference to Sylvia’s “great behind” and the 60 Minutes child recovery saga in Lebanon.

Later, guests feasted on dishes from Events by Aria, before the newlyweds performed their first dance to the Isley Brothers’ Shout.

Celebrations began the night before at the nearby Friendly Inn hotel, where sources say the couple were nothing but excited for their big day.

“There must’ve been about 20 or 30 people there from the wedding party and it was a very happy night for them.

“They seemed very excited and in love,” an onlooker told Woman’s Day.

Romantic Pete, 34, and Sylvia, 30, posted touching tributes to each other on social media.

Captioning a shot of the pair holding hands, Sylvia wrote, “Best day of our lives.” Pete uploaded a snap of their first dance with his “beautiful wife”. Here’s to their Happy Ever After!
