Logies star Grant Denyer Family Feud was lost without me!

In the wake of his rally car crash in March, Grant Denyer tells Woman’s Day he came perilously close to losing his hosting role on Family Feud.

The popular TV Week Logies star suffered multiple broken bones and fractures in the terrifying accident, which left him bedridden for close to a month.

During that time, the bank of taped Family Feud episodes ran dry, putting Ten into a spin.

“Normally we’d be shooting between 20 to 30 episodes a week, so there was a lot of scrambling,” Grant reveals. “I think Daryl Somers was quickly on the phone, just to see if they needed anyone else to fill in.”

Thankfully, with the support of his family – wife Cheryl and their daughters Sailor, five, and 18-month-old Scout – Grant was back on his feet far quicker than doctors expected and able to return to the set last week.

“Without my wife there is no way I would have been able to do this,” Grant says. “And the kids have been really lovely with Dad. They bring their toys and their books onto the bed and we’ve read and played and laughed – they’ve been so good.” Well, for the most part anyway. “I was with Scout the other day and she stood on my broken finger and re-broke it, which was incredibly painful,” Grant laughs.

“As much as I love that little face, Daddy had to go off into another room and cry. It put my recovery back just a little bit.”
