POMPOM CUSHION

These super cute cushions will liven up any bedroom or lounge room STEP 1 Cut each side of the cardboard box out. Place one large cut-out side on a flat surface. Place the bowl upside down on the cardboard and trace around it using a pencil. STEP 2 Place the tumbler upside down in the centre of the large circle and trace around it using a pencil. STEP 3 Use scissors to cut circle template out – don’t forget to cut the inner circle out as well. You will be left with a doughnut shape. STEP 4 Repeat so that you have two cardboard doughnuts. STEP 5 Place the two doughnuts on top of each other and begin to wrap the yarn around the inner hole and outer rim. Continue systematically until the entire ring is covered in yarn. STEP 6 Insert utility knife in between the two rings and cut yarn around the edges. You will need to push yarn to the side in order to get utility knife in between. STEP 7 Wrap a new piece of yarn in between cardboard doughnuts. Pull tight and secure with a knot. This will tie the yarn together to create a pompom. Slip doughnuts out. STEP 8 Remove cushion from cover. With a needle and thread, find the centre of the cushion cover and thread your pompom on, so it sits in the middle. Insert cushion back into cover. Make more pompoms for the four-corner version to make a set! WE USED Patons “Inca” yarn in Cream, $8.99, from Spotlight. Habitat “Oxley” plain cushion in Ivory, $29.95, from Pillow Talk.
