Camilla Shock claims
CAMILLA’S SHOCKING CLAIMS
“Without saying who was calling, she’d typically say, ‘I’ve sent someone to kill you. They’re outside in the garden. Look out of the window – can you see them?’”
In stark contrast to the wideranging reports that have for years painted Diana as a lonely and deeply troubled unwanted wife, Penny’s book claims Camilla had initially been sympathetic to the princess. Diana was just 19 when she began dating Charles and totally ignorant about Camilla’s past relationship with her soon-to-be husband.
However, according to her biographer, that attitude soon waned. Instead, Penny says, Camilla came to feel Diana was “playing victim” in order to damage Charles’ reputation – even using sons William and Harry as a weapon in their ugly split.
“For instance, the cameras were usually watching when she was giving the boys big loving hugs or treating them to Mcdonald’s or whizzing down a ride at a theme park,” the book reads. “Why? Because Diana rang the papers herself and told them where she’d be.”
The writer speculates this was a calculated move on Di’s part to portray herself as the “fun parent” whereas Charles – who was only ever photographed with the boys at official events – was widely believed to be a “cold, uncaring father”.
The book also claims Charles and Camilla called off their affair prior to the start of his relationship with Diana in 1980, only rekindling their romance in the late ’80s once the marriage had “irretrievably broken down”. And it’s claimed Di herself was seeing other men.
And in news set to anger William, 35, and Harry, 32, as they grapple with the upcoming anniversary of their beloved mother’s death, it alleges she encouraged the boys to meet her “men friends”, and made no attempt to hide her mood swings or tears from her young sons.
Worse, it suggests the two young royals spent the majority of their time with nannies as Di’s bulimia saw her health decline.
Meanwhile, Camilla’s children Tom and Laura, now 42 and 39, are said to have had a “very happy home life” in comparison.
These claims are in stark
‘Diana rang the papers herself and told them where she’d be’
contrast with the way William and Harry describe their short but treasured years with Diana.
Just recently William, a father of two himself, said his mother “showered us with love”.
It’s thought it won’t help their relationship with their father, which was already on tenterhooks after the release last month of tapes recorded by Diana, which revealed the true extent of her despair and loneliness in her marriage.
In addition to a recent spate of interviews with the young royals, two TV documentaries featuring the princes talking glowingly about their mum are set to be aired shortly to mark her August 1997 passing.
Friends say Camilla is well aware the title of “public enemy number one” will once again be bestowed on her as the world mourns Diana afresh.
Meanwhile, William and Harry are determined to give their mum the commemoration she deserves.
Along with William’s wife Kate, they attended a rededication of Diana’s grave late last week.
