A family outing turns sour for the couple who can’t stop fighting
They say absence makes the heart grow fonder – but friends fear Bec and Lleyton Hewitt’s relationship has taken a turn for the worse.
The pair appeared more disconnected than ever at a Melbourne park last week, shortly after Lleyton, 36, returned home from overseas.
He seemed more interested in his phone than making up time with his wife, who attempted to put on a brave face for the couple’s three children, Mia, 11, Cruz, eight, and Ava, six.
Friends say Bec, 33, is struggling with Lleyton’s absence for weeks at a time. “She thought she’d love being back in Melbourne but she’s having a hard time,” says a family friend. “She feels really isolated.”
Bec has also had to adjust to no longer being a WAG with special privileges.
“With Lleyton doing Davis Cup coaching, all the glamour has gone out the window,” our source says, adding Bec hates the attention Lleyton lavishes on tennis wonderkids like Nick Kyrgios and Bernard Tomic, who she sees as “spoilt brats”.
“Bec and Lleyton are fighting quite a bit. Lleyton is pouring all his attention into the boys and not her – she doesn’t feel special, which Bec really needs,” adds the insider.
“Lleyton should have given his family some time before launching himself into a highprofile coaching gig so soon.”
