Keys to happiness
Quite some years ago ago, David Helfgott had an exhibition in the Brisbane mall, and my husband and I were thrilled to go along and watch his brilliant performance on the piano. David’s wife Gillian was there and I noticed her loving tenderness towards him. Observing them inspired me to write a poem called What I Saw Today. There was love in their hands, There was love in their eyes, I saw it envelop them, like an aura surrounding them, Spreading it out and about, and the excitement made us all shout out, Clapping our hands hands, and smiling loudly, These two special people, who were touching our hearts! We knew their story, David and Gillian, We knew his courage, his pain, Her insight, her courage, her deep love, and now, We were celebrating with him, with her, their reward! But they remained the same, these two, untouched By fame, still sending out rays of sunshine, enhanced By his beautiful awesome music! Carol Kelly, Emu Vale Qld
