Dividing herbaceous perennia perennials is a great way to fill in your garden beds for free. Lift the whole clump of the plant out of the ground, taking as much root with it as possible, then use two garden forks back to back to prise the clump into sections without ripping and damaging the roots. Each section can be replanted out and will continue to grow over spring and summer.
