Meghan’s new bling is thought to be an emerald-cut aquamarine ring that was a favourite of Princess Diana’s. She wore it in Sydney in 1996 for a charity event. Because it belonged to Diana herself, rather than the monarchy, Harry wouldn’t have had to ask the Queen’s permission to give it to Meghan.

Meghan, like Kate, has been gifted Di’s ring.
