When the video for Taylor Swift’s new single Look What You Made Me Do debuted at the MTV VMAS last week, the star-studded crowd were stunned. From mocking Kim Kardashian’s harrowing armed robbery ordeal by sitting in a bathtub dripping in jewels and singing, “I don’t like your perfect crime”, to crashing a car while dressed as her nemesis Katy Perry, the 27-year-old singer’s putdowns were clear.

Former boyfriend Calvin Harris was stony-faced during the screening and refused to clap at the end, after Taylor took aim at him by featuring Nils Sjoberg, the fictitious name she used on their co-written song This Is What You Came For, on a tombstone in the clip.

Fans were quick to ask if Taylor has taken her need for revenge too far. “OK, wow, Taylor really made fun of an incident where Kim could have died,” wrote one viewer on social media.

With the formerly clean-cut pop princess declaring the “old Taylor Swift is dead”, we can only imagine what the album will be like!
