Now Natalie Bassingthwaighte, 42, joins the second season of The Wrong Girl, cast as Jack’s vivacious exgirlfriend Gillian – and she’s certainly set to cause a stir! What can we expect from your character, Gillian? Jack [Rob Collins] and Lily’s [Jessica Marais] relationship is at a pivotal moment. When Gillian arrives, she definitely ruffles some feathers and brings a lot of insecurities on Lily’s part. The three of us have a great dynamic so it was great to star alongside them. Gillian is an award-winning pastry chef – but how do you fare in the kitchen? I used to be a terrible cook and always found it really daunting, but since having kids [daughter Harper, seven, and son Hendrix, four] I’m a lot better. I spent a day at the William Angliss Institute and learnt some new patisserie skills to prepare for the role. I figured if I was going play an award-winning chef, I needed to learn more about baking. I can’t tell you if anything I made tasted good, but “fake it till you make it” is my motto! How does it feel to be reunited with some of your Neighbours co-stars? And can we expect a return to Ramsay Street?! It’s great! We’re all the same – just a few years have passed and we have a few more wrinkles! As for a return, never say never!
