GUY: I NEARLY LOST MY HOUSE!

An official statement from the palace is expected at any minute, with the prince keen to tie the knot

Pop star Guy Sebastian has revealed he was on the verge of losing his swanky LA apartment after accidentally ignoring his land tax – for a whopping seven years!

The singer, 35, says it was all a “mix-up” because he’d been staying at Olympian Ian Thorpe’s pad so hadn’t received any tax letters.

It wasn’t until friends alerted him to the “important-looking letters” at his own property the father-of-two realised his mistake.

“One of them was saying there are taxes that haven’t been paid since 2010 on your house and we’re going to sell it on October 22,” Guy told Sydney radio hosts Kyle and Jackie O. “I’ve never not paid bills so I was quite shocked!”

As if the news of the Duchess of Cambridge’s pregnancy wasn’t enough, there’s even more excitement in store for the royal family. At the time Woman’s Day went to print late last week, Kensington Palace was said to be just days away from announcing another joyous occasion – Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle. As Woman’s Day revealed last month, Harry, who turns 33 this week, proposed to his love on her 36th birthday, having whisked her away for a romantic holiday in the remote depths of Botswana. Last week Meghan seemed to confirm a wedding is imminent, speaking for the very first time about her royal romance in a tell-all interview with Vanity Fair. Royal insiders say the couple are now ready to reveal they’ve chosen the UK spring – April 20 next year – as the date for their wedding. In the candid interview, Meghan called their union a “love story” and confirmed they were introduced by friends in July last year.

“We were very quietly dating for about six months before it became news,” she says. “At the end of the day, I think it’s really simple. We’re two people who are really happy and in love.

“We’re a couple, we’re in love. I’m sure there will be a time when we’ll have to come forward and present ourselves and have stories to tell. But we’re happy. Personally, I love a great love story.”

Royal sources say there’s no way Meghan would have been sanctioned by the palace to do an interview had an engagement not already occurred.

With Harry currently fifth in line to the throne, the Queen has the right to sanction who he marries, and protocol demands the monarch pre-approve any interviews given by her family – or their other halves – in which they discuss their private lives.

Before Kate was officially engaged to Prince William, not only did she refuse to discuss their relationship, but she did just one televised interview after the announcement.

Despite speculation the Queen may disapprove of Meghan being Us-born and a divorcee, insiders say she has already welcomed her into The Firm.

“The Queen is remarkably open-minded,” says royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith. “I would image that the Queen’s view would be: If they’re in love and they’re well-suited, then they should proceed.”

With Meghan set to officially become the UK’S next princess, her life as she knows it will change dramatically, so it’s no surprise she’ll be leaning on Harry for support.

“It has its challenges,” she said of the attention. “But I have this support system all around me, and, of course, my boyfriend’s support.”

With such a loving partner by her side, there’s no doubt Meghan will settle into royal life with ease. Bring on the wedding!
