The world rejoiced when Richard Gere and Julia Roberts got back together in 2015 to promote the 25th anniversary of Pretty Woman. But one person wasn’t so thrilled with the reunion – Julia’s husband Danny Moder.
And now, with Richard having recently ended his 11-year marriage to Carey Lowell, he’s reportedly been openly flirting with his favourite leading lady once more – and Danny’s fuming.
According to sources, Julia, 49, and Richard, 68, have met for several secret dinner dates in LA, without Julia’s husband of 15 years. The famous duo also call each other constantly, with Richard recently admitting he and Julia “talk all time”.
He adds, “I speak to her three or four times a day. I would call her right now.”
But Danny, 48, who has twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, 12, and son Henry, 10, with Julia, “has had enough”. He’s even picked up the phone to issue Richard a warning: “Stay away from my wife!”
The cinematographer’s terse words come amid endless speculation about the strength of the couple’s marriage.
“Danny trusts Julia implicitly and doesn’t believe she’d cheat on him,” a friend of the couple says. “But he has it in his head that Richard’s pursuing her. The thought of another man sniffing around Julia has really sent him over the edge!
“He felt he had to say something, so he called up Richard himself and gave him a piece of his mind. In no uncertain terms, he told him to keep the hell away from his wife.”
While the conversation was an awkward one, “Danny felt good to get his feelings in the open,” says the source. He hopes that Richard has heeded his warning, otherwise he’ll be forced to take stronger – and more public – action.
“Danny won’t tolerate what he sees as a blatant crush on his wife and mother of his children,” adds the friend. Looks like this Pretty
