TWO BABY BOYS FOR NICOLE... TWINS AT 50!
After years of wanting to expand their family, Nic and Keith have been granted a happy miracle
Of all the roles she’s played, motherhood has been Nicole Kidman’s favourite. But having turned 50 in June, the Aussie actress was beginning to think her dream of expanding her family with husband Keith Urban had slipped out of her grasp – until now.
In exciting news, Woman’s Day can confirm the delighted couple are having not one, but two baby boys with the help of a surrogate! The double bundle of joy will bring the pair’s brood to four – they are already parents to daughters Sunday Rose, nine, and Faith Margaret, six – and we’re told their newborn sons are due in February next year.
“Nic and Keith couldn’t be happier,” a close friend of the thrilled couple tells Woman’s Day. “It’s something they’ve talked about for a long time now and they have to pinch themselves that their dream is finally coming true.”
It’s not the first time the duo has turned to surrogacy to welcome a child, with Faith having been born via a gestational carrier. While they hoped to use the same woman again, Nicole and Keith were heartbroken when she turned them down.
NEW SURROGATE
“She told them that she is done having babies but she did offer to help find someone suitable,” says our source.
“In the end they came up with a shortlist of three and interviewed them all before settling on someone they both think is ideal.”
The woman in question is in her early 30s, married and has two children of her own.
“She doesn’t smoke, drink alcohol or do drugs, and is very health conscious,” the insider says of the surrogate. “Above all, she seems very calm and has a happy home environment – everything Nic and Keith could possibly want in someone they are entrusting with their unborn babies.”
Nicole and Keith have had multiple visits with both the surrogate and her husband since learning she was pregnant with their twins four months ago.
“The babies are due around Valentine’s Day,” says our insider.
“Nic knows how much it means for Keith to have a son – and now they’re having two. Keith broke down in tears – they both did – when they got a phone call about the babies. They rushed over to the surrogate’s home to celebrate. Keith has already bought them baby-sized cowboy hats.”
Over the past year, Nicole, who is also mum to adopted children Isabella, 24, and Connor, 22, with ex-husband Tom Cruise, has spoken often of the joy motherhood brings her. And she’s done nothing to hide her strong desire to become a mum again later in life.
“When it comes to it, I just wanna be a mama,” she said recently. “I suppose my maternal instincts and drive has always been there since I was little and that’s a huge driving force of who I am. I love being a mother.”
And certainly friends of the actress aren’t surprised to hear news she and Keith are expecting again.
“Nic has been very open about wanting another baby,” says our insider, who adds that at first the actress hoped to get pregnant herself, despite her age and the difficulty she had conceiving in the past.
BABY DREAM
It was Keith who convinced his wife that surrogacy would give them the best chance at giving their little girls a sibling once more.

have been able to get pregnant, but there was no way they were going to give up on their baby dream.”
Now that their much-longed for bubs are on the way, both Nicole and Keith are clearing their work schedules for early next year so they can be hands-on with the twins, who they hope to take to their home in Nashville immediately after they are born.
Nicole has been busier than ever in recent months, completing her film and TV commitments ahead of a break when the twins arrive. Meanwhile, Keith revealed last week he has officially turned down the chance to reprise his judging role on the revamped American Idol next year.
“Nic has made it clear they wants to stay home with the babies for a few months, and after that she plans to take them on set with her,” says the source. “She just wants to concentrate on being a mum. After all, nothing makes her happier.”
