There's a new member of The McClymonts - and he's set to steal the show

There was no better time for us to start a family,” smiles country music star Samantha Mcclymont, as she affectionately cradles her four-week-old son Wilder Hercules Poxon alongside her husband Ben Poxon.

Sam – one-third of Aussie sister act The Mcclymonts – recently moved back to Australia with her husband of three years after stints in the US, and finally felt as though the stars had aligned.

And despite being first-time parents, it’s clear they’re naturals as they happily dote on Wilder during our exclusive photoshoot at their home in Sydney’s Hills district.

Sam, 31, was five days past her due date when she arrived at the hospital having what she thought were contractions.

“When we got there I said to the nurse, ‘I think I’m in labour, but I don’t know,’” laughs the blonde beauty, who rose to fame alongside sisters Brooke, 36, and Mollie, 30, as The Mcclymonts.

“Once the nurse confirmed I was 4cm dilated she told me the news I’d been waiting such a long time for, ‘ You’re going to have a baby tonight!’” Sam recalls with delight.

Proud hubby Ben, 38, a pilot, says he could hardly believe how relaxed the labour was, and laughs as he recalls how, when the time came to push, Sam thought she was doing a practice run! “Sam didn’t realise she was pushing for real until the doctor came in,” he laughs.

While the labour was drama-free, Wilder’s heart rate dropped momentarily after he was born and he struggled to breathe, but luckily it was remedied quickly, says Sam, who bonded with her baby boy in the predawn hours. Ben recalls, “We were both delirious after the labour, but also wanted to scream it to the world – but the world was only just waking up!”

Now, with Sam’s concert schedule about to ramp up, the couple are excited at the prospect of taking Wilder on tour. “It’s going to be quite the tribe for the Mcclymont girls if they all decide to have more kids [Brooke has Tiggy, four, and Mollie has Ned, 18 months],” says Ben. “Us dads will have our hands full backstage!”

And as far as siblings for Wilder? Both smile and agree it’s a possibility. But, says his mum: “Wilder is perfect right now.”

With her sisters Brooke and Mollie on stage. A blissed out Sam says, “I may only just want the one.” “Wilder’s middle name is Hercules – the aircraft Ben flew and which we met on 11 years ago,” says Sam.
