Ben Affleck begs Jen: “Please forgive me!”
Implicated in Hollywood’s sexual assault scandal, he pleads for one last chance
Looking tired and dishevelled, Ben Affleck appeared a broken man when he visited his children’s school late last week. It was just days after the actor was forced to apologise for groping One Tree Hill actress Hilarie Burton in 2003 and make-up artist Annamarie Tendler at a Golden Globes afterparty just three years ago.
Looking even more distressed was his estranged wife and the mother of his three children Jennifer Garner, who is said to be
at her wit’s end as she desperately tries to protect her family.
Those close to the Affleck clan claim Ben – who split from Jen in 2015 but has remained close to the actress for the sake of their children – is now begging her to forgive him for his mistakes.
It’s not the first time she has had to do so – Ben was accused of having an affair with the couple’s nanny shortly after they split, and he has since admitted to a drinking problem for which he has completed several stints in rehab.
Last week, despite Ben’s alleged assaults, a visibly shaken Jen was seen seeking comfort in the arms of her ex, while he appeared to be doing all in his power to convince her he can be a better man for their kids, Violet, 11, Seraphina, eight, and five-year-old Samuel.
A source says the actress is “very annoyed” with Ben, not least because this latest saga in their family’s life just means more attention on her and the children.
“She tries to shield them from any and all publicity and scrutiny,” the insider says.
“As far as they know, nothing has changed and all is well. That is always her goal, but she’s been pretty frustrated with him.”
In the wake of the couple’s split, Jen – who was married to Ben for 10 years – said last year she will stop at nothing to remain close to her ex.
“The main thing is these kids – and we’re completely in line with what we hope for them,” she told Vanity Fair last year. “Sure, I lost the dream of dancing with my husband at my daughter’s wedding. But you should see their faces when he walks through the door. And if you see your kids love someone so purely and wholly, then you’re going to be friends with that person.”
