JAMES PACKER: MARIAH WAS A BIG MISTAKE
Mariah Carey was said to be devastated when James Packer called off their 15-month romance and engagement last year, and reportedly blamed his link with Scientology. Now the billionaire businessman has come clean about his time dating the superstar singer, 47, branding it “a mistake”. In a shock move, the normally private 50-year-old broke his silence on the pair’s engagement, which ended in October 2016. James admitted he was at “a low point” when they got together and was over $5 million in debt. “I was at a low point in my personal life. Documenting the negotiations with my sister was taking longer than expected,” he revealed in an interview. “She [Mariah] was kind, exciting and fun. Mariah is a woman of substance, but it was a mistake for her and a mistake for me.”
The billionaire also regrets divorcing his second wife Erica Baxter – the mother of his three children, who he split from in 2013. “It’s my biggest regret that I let my marriage to Erica fail. It is what it is and she’s doing an incredible job.”
