Reality TV faves Polly and Waz welcome their first daughter
Delicate and tiny she may be, but little Scotland Jones is already winning hearts.
The doll-like baby with a scrap of dark hair has completely entranced her big brother Hudson, who wasn’t so keen to share his mum, The Block’s Polly Jones, in the months leading up to his sister’s arrival.
“He was hitting me in the belly,” laughs Polly, who won the reno show in 2011 alongside husband Waz. “As soon as she arrived, Hudson was hugging her and became very protective. He brought in a blanket for her in the hospital and wanted to kiss and smother her with love. His kiss is a headbutt, but he can’t get enough of her.”
Polly, who suffered from postpartum depression after er Hudson’s birth, says she’s a more relaxed mum this time round, nd, but freely admits she finds it “chaotic, haotic, relentless and challenging” ” – and hates breastfeeding!
“Of course, I love them both,” oth,” explains Polly, who’s also juggling a move from Central ral Coast to Mittagong to allow w her hubby Waz to learn how w to make fine furniture – a lifetime passion.
“[But] I hate breastfeeding. I don’t find it this magical experience it’s cracked up to be. When I had Hudson, I felt like I’d lost control of anything and everything. Later, I discovered you get freedom with a bottle.
“My new mantra is if it’s not right for mum, it’s not right for baby,” says Polly, 31, who wants other new mothers to know it’s OK not to fit the mould of the perfect parent. “Warwick [Waz] is an amazing support, but as the mum there’s a lot of pressure.”
Waz, also 34, says while they both decided to wait until the C-section birth to find out their baby’s sex, the couple felt it was a girl from early in the pregnancy.
Like Hudson, Waz fell under Scotland’s spell immediately. The doting dad reveals he cried tears of joy when he was handed her, and an instant daddydaughter protective bond kicked in. “I fell hopelessly in love,” he says, smiling.
