Jen and Reese are at loggerheads over their new project – and Nicole is caught in the middle

Nicole Kidman has found herself stuck in the middle of two of her closest friends, Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon.

Woman’s Day has it on good authority that tensions are simmering between Reese and Jen since they teamed up to star in and co-produce a new drama based on a morning TV show for Apple – and both are running to their mutual confidante, Nicole.

“Jen and Reese have always moved in the same circles and liked each other well enough, but teaming up together on this new show has been nothing short of a disaster,” an insider reveals exclusively.

“Both of them are extremely headstrong and talented women who are used to being in charge, and unfortunately their creative differences are becoming hugely apparent.”

Mum-of-four Nicole, 50, and 48-year-old Jen have been tight since they first met through their mutual agent in 2005 and later co-starred in romantic comedy Just Go With It.

Nic also recently bonded with 41-year-old Reese on the set of their TV show Big Little Lies. The pair, who garnered huge acclaim for their roles in the hit series, have posted endless happy snaps together on social media over the past few months.

“Jen’s finding it really tough because the last thing she wants is to be seen as fighting with a female co-star, so she calls Nicole to let off steam because she trusts her implicitly,” our source explains.

“Nicole definitely sympathises because she knows what it’s like to care so much about a project on which you don’t see eye to eye with the other creative

powers that be – however she’s struggling to side with Jen completely.”

Those close to Nicole say she is now trying to gently detach herself from being Jen’s emotional sounding-board, so it doesn’t ruin her friendship with Reese before they start filming season two of Big Little Lies. She plans to remind Jen that Reese is

generous and hard working – and is even wondering if she should invite both of them to her home in Nashville for a good old-fashioned barbecue, so that they can see each other in a different light.

“Reese only lives half an hour away from Nicole’s ranch, and Jen has been meaning to visit for years, so this is the perfect time.”

Reese played Jen’s sister in Friends but now Nic’s been forced to step between the two A-list actresses.

The two stars at an Oscars party in 2013 – before work interfered with their friendship. Besties on set Nicole and Reese have became the closest of friends – and neighbours!
