1 Take quality photos

Clear pictures will ensure buyers know exactly what t they’re getting, and hopefully help them to make a quicker ik decision. The more detail, the better! This means making sure shots are taken in daylight, and free from clutter and objects that may obstruct the piece.

2 D Describe DN every detail

Note down all measurements, including height, width a and depth. List as much detail as you can about materials i and describe the style of the piece, so put Tasmanian oak sideboard as opposed to timber sideboard.

3 Upcycle

According to Gumtree’s Second Hand Economy Report, 8 86 per cent of Aussies say they prefer buying secondhand over new. And 46 per cent of that number say finding a unique piece was the primary motivation. With this in mind, get creative and give your furniture a fresh and unique lease of life. You could try giving it a light sand and a fresh coat of paint, a thorough sand and varnish or even just some new handles.

4 Price appropriately

According to Gumtree’s report, homewares and furniture m make up 24 per cent of all items sold by Aussies in the past year – so there’s plenty to choose from. Be realistic when pricing and compare to similar pieces currently listed.
