Joe Hildebrand: My brother’s still missing

It’s’ one most mysteriousi missing i i children’s cases, and until recently, Studio 10 host Joe Hildebrand couldn’t face speaking publicly about the moment his nine-year-old brother Patrick went missing on a family bushwalk in 1987. But earlier this year Joe, 41, opened up to co-host Sarah Harris. “In a way he’s always there, he’s always in you, he becomes part of you,” says Joe. Patrick, who had a profound intellectual disability, simply wandered ahead of Joe, their mum Christine and cousins at Victoria’s Wilson’s Promontory. Despite an extensive search, all that was found was Patrick’s yellow rain hat. “Not knowing is very hard, and must be so much harder for my mum,” adds Joe.
