7. Make a splash

Sometimes it only takes one or two tw elements to completely change the character of a room. For example, take the kitchen – an entire renovation can easily cost upwards of $20,000 depending on the scale and innovation required. However, updating a splashback with a punch of colour can be enough to lift it out of the doldrums. Instead of tiles, I’ve previously used tile-effect wallpaper covered with a sheet of glass.
