Woman’s Day (Australia)

Rhymes of our lives

-

I wrote this poem when I was 33. I'm now 76 and getting long in the tooth. I still love poetry and get much enjoyment each week reading my Woman’s Day. I never thought I’d cry alone each night Awake each hour ’til morning’s empty light These teardrops like thunderstorms above Come raining down on me without your love Remember all those dreams, they were all ours Washed away on the tide of winter showers We never got to realise our dream, or never deserved to share, or so it seems Perhaps if I was shown the reasons why I lost you to the Lord I wouldn’t cry He’ll have to take me, I want to follow you There’s nothing left on earth to pull me through At last a smile, I feel it crease my face Beloved I’ll soon be by your side and in my place G Davis, Port Pirie, SA
