Her shock claims in a recent interview have reignited a war with the singer’s last love
Priscilla Presley has reopened her feud with the woman who was engaged to Elvis at the time of his death in 1977, Ginger Alden – and Hollywood insiders say she won’t back down!
After Ginger, 61, got wind of 72-year-old Priscilla’s appearance on news program Sunday Night, she took to Facebook to launch a furious attack against Elvis’ former wife.
“[Priscilla] says that during Elvis’ last relationship, Elvis eventually became unhappy and wanted to end it, even going so far as to say this added to some of his problems,” Ginger wrote in a social media post shortly after Priscilla’s interview aired. “I’m appalled
and disgusted by these untruths and would like to say to Elvis’ ex, ‘How dare you!’”
During the interview, Priscilla claimed there was “no other woman” in Elvis’ life – other than her. After discrediting Ginger’s romance with “the King”, she went on to admit he wasn’t always faithful, and ultimately that was why she called time on their relationship.
“He wasn’t faithful – not that he had someone special... And I tried to turn my back to that, but I just didn’t want to share him,” Priscilla said. “I don’t know if he was ever cut out to be married, because I don’t think he could ever be faithful to one woman.”
Elvis and Priscilla married in 1967 after seven years together, and separated in 1972. Four years later, he started dating Ginger and the couple were engaged after just two months. Elvis and Ginger were e together until his death in August 1977, but Priscilla la has stated he was never truly serious about getting married arried again. She still calls Elvis s “the love of my life”, and even alleges he begged her to take him back while he was engaged to Ginger. However, Ginger insists, “I was the one at Elvis’ side and we were engaged. Elvis and his ex-wife had gone their separate ways a few years before we began seeing one another,” she commented. According to the actress, he never intended to reconnect with Priscilla. “Elvis wanted the two of us to be friends for the sake of his daughter – Lisa Marie,” she said, adding they didn’t take their engagement lightly. “Elvis was not a rundown man, pining away for an ex-wife – and this is a fact. “This disgraceful and absurd denial of the way things truly happened has gone on far too long,” she fumed. “The jealousy surrounding my engagement to Elvis, which he warned me about, has been very trying. I’m shocked and angered at the lengths some individuals have gone to in an attempt to diminish my relationship with Elvis. “It’s completely unjust, and nothing but a fabricated attempt to rewrite history.” But with Priscilla adamant she knew her ex-husband better than anyone and insisting the pair were still incredibly close at the time of his death, those in the know claim this feud will continue for years to come.
An insider revealed to Woman’s Day, “There’s been drama there for decades. Priscilla never accepted Ginger as a real part of Elvis’ life and in her mind, Ginger shouldn’t be writing books and flaunting her connection to him.
“But it’s clear Ginger is fed up of being shrugged off or forgotten about, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if she started to do a lot more interviews to defend herself against Priscilla after this,” the source adds.
