Step 1 Cut each paper straw into three equal pieces.

Step 2

Using a needle and thread, make six one-metre garlands, alternatin­g between a length of straw and a piece of confetti. Step 3 Inflate the balloons (try using a balloon pump). Step 4 Tie balloons together into pairs. Leave eight single balloons.

Step 5

Twist balloon pairs over the hoop and secure in place. Then tie in the individual balloons for even more coverage.

Step 6

Tie the end of one garland to the hula hoop, then tie the other end to the opposite side. Repeat on other side and lift both in the centre to create a hanging point.

Step 7

Take another garland and tie one end to a balloon clump. Loop the garland over clumps of balloons and tie to the hula hoop to secure. Continue with another garland, looping it all the way around the hoop. b t g a

Step 8

Add last two garlands under the balloons, tied at opposite sides s to make quarters. Step 9 Tie ribbon to the hoop as decoration between balloons.
