The actress’ closest friend reveals her and Justin’s two-year marriage is finally at breaking point
For months, rumours have swirled that Jennifer Aniston’s two-year marriage to Justin Theroux is over. And now her friend and close confidant Jason Bateman appears to have confirmed the worst kept secret in Hollywood: the pair are not only living apart but Jen is talking to a divorce lawyer.
Jason, 49, revealed the stunning information at the Netflix afterparty following last week’s SAG Awards. As fellow revellers listened on in shock, he was overheard talking to some close friends about the demise of Jen’s marriage.
CALLING IN THE LAWYERS
“Jason was addressing rumours about Jen and Justin and confirmed they were in dire straits,” one witness tells Woman’s Day of how the conversation began.
“He said Justin’s had most of his belongings from their Bel Air home shipped to New York, and the couple are barely on speaking terms – they’re only communicating now via a mutual friend.”
The tension was clear, Jason was overheard saying, when he and his actress wife Amanda Anka, 49, holidayed with the warring couple over the recent festive season holiday break.
“He said their vacation in Mexico over Christmas was difficult because of Jen and Justin’s constant rows,” reports our source. “He often acted as mediator between them, which ruined the break for everyone.”
According to another source close to the actress, Jen, 48, has enlisted the man who represented Brad Pitt during their tumultuous divorce in 2005.
“Apparently Jen’s hired Neal Hersh, which is a bizarre move,” says our source. “But she was incredibly impressed by Neal and how w he handled their divorce, and she decided to take him on to fight her battle with Justin.”
And it’s likely Brad, 54, may have helped his ex-wife fe get in touch with Neal. As Woman’s Day revealed just weeks ago, the two have been en in regular contact in recent t months, with Brad leaning on Jen as he continues to fight ght his own ugly divorce battle with Angelina Jolie.
And with Neal having represented a slew of other celebrities, including Halle Berry, Pamela Anderson and nd Kim Basinger, the celebrity divorce lawyer’s expertise will come in handy. Especially as it’s believed the couple had signed a watertight prenuptial agreement to the tune of $215 million!

“That didn’t include their recent assets, which Jen would now be fighting Justin for, such as their LA home that she says she’s invested millions into,” our source adds.
Our SAG insider says those listening to Jason’s conversation were left with little doubt it’s only a matter of time before an official divorce announcement is made. And it’s clear that Jason will be the one Jen turns to as she starts her life without Justin, 46 – along with Brad, of course.
Jen and Jason, who have co-starred in five films, have shared a close friendship for years. Jason and Amanda even joined Jen and Justin on their honeymoon – or what they jokingly called a “buddymoon” – in Bora Bora back in 2015.
“Jason said this could be Hollywood’s next big divorce story, and it will no doubt see Jen becoming the victim again, breaking the hearts of her fans who thought she’d finally found her happy ending,” says our source.
“Jen is very much in a dark place, grieving the breakdown of another marriage that was bringing many painful memories to the surface.”
