SYDNEY SKIPS TOWN
Awandering wallaby stopped commuters in their tracks and hit international headlines when he took an earlymorning skip across Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Nicknamed Sydney, the wallaby was spotted at around 5am on January 16, and it took three policemen, along with former Wallabies captain Nick Farr-jones – who was on his way to work – to catch the animal.
Sydney was taken to the Taronga Wildlife Hospital, where a vet found him to be stressed but free of injuries.
Inspector Kylie Smith says it was an uncommon call-out for police. “Sydney has the best harbour in the world, so I imagine he was taking in the view,” she joked. The wallaby has since been released into bushland.
