‘MY DAUGHTER THINKS IZZY IS HILARIOUS!’

-

It will forever be one of Neighbours’ most memorable moments – Izzy Hoyland going into labour during Karl and Susan’s wedding on a boat.

Now, the soap’s most infamous homewrecker is making her long-awaited comeback after a 10-year hiatus. And actress Natalie Bassingthwaighte, 42, promises even more fireworks!

What can viewers expect from Izzy this time around?

She has an agenda, and she’ll stop at nothing to make it happen!

Did your return feel like a trip down memory lane?

Most of the crew is still the same, and it’s filmed in the same building, but the cast is mostly new. I felt like I was in a time warp!

Have your kids ever watched Neighbours?

I showed a bit to Harper and she thought it was hilarious.

Does she understand your job?

Harper’s aware I’m on TV because some of the older kids at school ask what her mum’s name is, but I’m just her mum. It’s just Mummy going to work.

Do you think she’ll follow in your footsteps?

She’s such a performer. She’s always putting on shows and she’s really funny – she pulls out an American and English accent so easily.

You recently posted a throwback on Instagram of yourself hanging out with the Kardashians and Mel B…

They were over here for the Kardashian clothing launch. It was when Kim had just broken up with husband Kris Humphries. They were really sweet, actually – and so tiny!

Are you still in touch with Mel?

I haven’t seen or spoken to her since The X Factor wrapped up. It’s intense what she’s been going through [a bitter divorce from husband Stephen Belafonte], though. I think you have to be strong otherwise you fall to pieces. I don’t envy that situation at all.

You’re looking fab – what’s your secret?

I go to Pilates four or five times a week. And I don’t drink as much as I used to, either!

Natalie Bassingthwaighte returns to NEIGHBOURS Tuesday, February 13, 6.30pm, Win & Eleven
