The selfie that led to a con­vic­tion

Aselfie helped con­vict a killer who stran­gled her best friend to death, be­cause it showed her wear­ing the mur­der weapon – a blue belt. Brit­tney Gar­gol’s body was found dumped by a road in Saska­toon, Canada, on March 25, 2015. A wide belt was found nearby.

A photo of Brit­tney, 18, and her best friend Cheyenne Rose An­toine, 21, had been posted to Face­book six hours be­fore the body was dis­cov­ered. On closer in­spec­tion, po­lice no­ticed the belt An­toine was wear­ing in the photo was the same belt found by the body, which had been used to stran­gle Brit­tney to death.

An­toine ad­mit­ted in court she got into a heated ar­gu­ment with Brit­tney dur­ing a night ht out drink­ing but claimed she couldn’t re­mem­ber mber killing her. Af­ter plead­ing guilty to man­slaugh­ter hter last month, she was sen­tenced to seven years rs be­hind bars. “I will never for­give my­self,” she said in a state­ment.
