KIKI MASELLA ‘FUZZY HELPED ME WITH MY INSECURITIES’

-

At just 13, Kyliric “Kiki” Masella has achieved more than most people do in a lifetime, notably a leading role in new drama Grace Beside Me, adapted from the novel by Sue Mcpherson, in which she plays Indigenous teenager Fuzzy Mac.

But while Kiki differs from her character in many ways – she can’t see ghosts, for a start – she admits to facing some of the same insecurities every teenager has to deal with.

“I used to get picked on because I had really curly, frizzy hair,” she tells Woman’s Day. “I’d always wear it straight or in braids because I was so self-conscious. But since playing Fuzzy I’m so proud of it. I’ve worn my hair curly ever since!” GRACE BESIDE ME Friday, 7.30pm, NITV
