Crazed stalker

-

Angela Jay was pleased when she matched with Paul Lambert on Tinder. He was handsome, had a stable job in finance and seemed “charming and attentive” when they met.

However, just weeks later, Lambert started to show his true colours and bombarded the 29-year-old doctor with texts and phone calls.

Concerned, Angela called it quits, but Lambert refused to take no for an answer. The 36-year-old harassed and threatened her for weeks, demanding she take him back.

Then on November 3, 2016, Lambert broke in to Angela’s Port Macquarie home and, in a frenzied rage, stabbed her 11 times before dousing her in petrol.

“I looked down at my legs and saw stab wounds and thought ‘My God, he’s going to kill me, I’m going to bleed to death,’” says Angela, who last month released confronting photos of her legs taken days after the attack. “I put pressure on my leg using my hand, all the time thinking ‘I need to get out of here.’ ”

Angela fled to a nearby house, where she guided her neighbour through treatment. Lambert was shot dead by police when he lunged at them with a knife.

Angela is now raising money for White Ribbon Australia by hiking the Kokoda Track. To donate: trek 4 respectkokoda. everydayhero.com/au/ange-vs-kokoda
