TOM HANKS: THE BABY THAT SAVED OUR FAMILY
Tom Hanks has always had a tense relationship with his troubled middle son Chet, but now a beloved granddaughter has finally helped to heal the family rift. “Things haven’t always been great with Chet – Tom has definitely been through a lot,” a US source says of the 27-year-old’s drug-addled past. Chet has battled substance abuse issues since he was a teenager and admitted to smoking crack and selling cocaine in 2015. But when he found out he was expecting a baby with Tiffany Miles, Chet tried his best to clean up his act – and now little Michaiah, who’s just turned two, has “brought everyone together”. “They put aside their differences,” the insider says of Chet building bridges with his famous dad and mum Rita Wilson. “Now they’re in a better place than ever.” As well as helping out his son and granddaughter financially, 61-year-old Tom is also happily playing babysitter for the youngest member of the family. “[Tom’s] doing a substantial job,” reveals Tiffany’s mum Diana Owens. “He’s doing a great job with helping this child.”
