We all start the year with the best intentions to lose weight and get fit, but few of us stick with it. Determined to change this trend, fitness expert and former NRL player Ben Lucas shares his top three tips to stay motivated.
TRACK IT
Tracking your workouts creates a sense of “gamification”, where you’re competing against yourself to make sure you show up. Tracking also allows you to see your progress and results. Try a gadget like a Fitbit, and the apps that track your measurements, diet and completed exercise.
HAVE A WINGMAN
Working out can also double as a social experience, so bring a friend along for the ride. Also, having a friend who actually shows up will help you be more accountable and motivated.
REAP THE REWARDS
If you’re working towards a big end goal, it’s a great idea to set up smaller goals to achieve along the way. When you celebrate your small wins, you’re creating a positive reinforcement and this will hopefully keep you motivated and interested in continuing until you reach your main in goal.
