Nathan Lyon’s new love

The cricket star’s ex-partner Mel Waring lashes out after his new squeeze joins him in South Africa

Aussie Test hero Nathan Lyon snuck his new girlfriend into Cape Town for a romantic interlude – on the same day Mel Waring, his heartbroken ex, went public about how alone and abandoned she’s felt since the split.

“I’m constantly reminded that the team of people who were once there for us both are no longer my friends but my enemy,” Mel, 29, blogged last week, as Nathan, 30, enjoyed a romantic dinner in South Africa with new squeeze Emma Mccarthy, 26.

“I wasn’t sure what being really alone would feel like, being shut out from him. Since saying goodbye it hadn’t really hit me... I have been strong. I have been brave but today I feel weak, I feel small and I feel alone.”

Mel, who had two daughters with Nathan during their 10-year relationship, previously admitted how “humiliated” she felt when pictures of Nathan kissing Emma surfaced last December.

Nathan and blonde bombshell Emma looked like honeymooners, dining at the V&A Waterfront and staying at the Cullinan Hotel, where the Australian team is lodged ahead of the Third Test.

“I think they must be trying to keep her presence a secret because she’s not travelling with the other WAGS on the team bus, and was often sitting outside the WAGS box in Port Elizabeth,” says one player’s wife. “She’s going to find it hard to fit in because Mel was such a big part of the group for so long, and I can’t help but feel for Mel this week because she loves Cape Town and we’ve all had great time here in the past.

“There’s definitely a feeling among the WAGS that bringing Emma was a bit premature – and difficult for Mel, who we all know has been really struggling emotionally since they split up.”
